You will be received by our representative from Bhutan Mystical Tour at the airport and drive Thimphu city.

On the way to Thimphu stop to see Tamchog Monastery, built by Thangthong Gyalpo also known as Lama Chazampa, meaning the Iron Bridge Builder in the 1500.A.D. He built 108 bridges across Tibet and Bhutan, out of which 8 were built in Bhutan. 

On reaching Thimphu, ride on your motorcycle uphill to Buddha Dordenma Statue. It is made of bronze and measures 169 ft. in height. You can get a spectacular view of Thimphu valley from this point.

Next, visit to National Memorial Chorten, a monument dedicated to the Third King of Bhutan, His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

Later, head to Tashichho Dzong (Fortress), which houses the throne room of the king and the offices of the government.

Overnight in Thimphu

Begin your day early with a crisp morning breeze as you start your Bhutan motorcycle tour through the serene streets of Thimphu. The city is quiet at this time, offering a peaceful start. 

Your first stop will be the Takin Preserve (also known as the Motithang Takin Reserve), located just a few kilometers from Thimphu.

After leaving the preserve, head towards the National Library, just a short ride from the Takin Preserve. This historic library holds Bhutan’s vast collection of sacred texts, ancient manuscripts and valuable cultural archives. 

Next, ride to the Bhutan Postal Museum, located in the heart of Thimphu. The museum offers an interesting glimpse into Bhutan’s postal history, featuring old stamps, mail delivery systems and stories of how the country’s postal services have evolved.

After lunch, it’s time for an adventurous ride. Take your motorcycle and head towards the base of Tango and Cheri Monasteries, located 18 km from Thimphu. This scenic ride will take you along a winding mountain road, with views of lush forests, hills and the surrounding valleys. The monasteries are nestled high in the mountains, offering both spiritual significance and awe-inspiring natural beauty.

After exploring the monasteries, head back to Thimphu. Once back in the city, take a ride to the Centenary Farmers Market, a bustling local market located along the Wang Chhu River. 

Overnight in Thimphu

Begin your motorcycle ride early in the morning from Thimphu, ready for an exciting journey to Punakha. 

Your first major stop is the Dochula Pass, located about 30 minutes outside Thimphu. Once you reach the pass, you’ll be treated to a majestic view of snow-capped peaks like Gangchen Ta and Jomolhari. The pass is also home to the 108 memorial chortens (stupas), built in honor of the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives. Take a moment to reflect in this serene, spiritual place, and perhaps enjoy a hot cup of tea at the local café overlooking the mountains.

After enjoying the peace of Dochula, continue your ride towards Punakha, descending into the lush Punakha Valley. Upon arrival, head to Chimi Lhakhang, which is famous for its fertility blessing rituals and the colorful murals and serene surroundings. 

Post-lunch, head towards the Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks. Known as the “Palace of Great Happiness,” the dzong is situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. The dzong is also a prime spot for photos, with its beautiful architecture against the backdrop of the valley. 

In the late afternoon, hop back on your motorcycle and take a ride toward Khamsung Yulley Lhakhang, a hidden gem situated on a hilltop overlooking the Punakha Valley. The road to the monastery is winding, with the surrounding hills and lush vegetation creating a beautiful setting

Later ride back towards Punakha as the sun begins to set. Stop at one of the many vantage points along the way to capture the beauty of the valley at twilight to make your Bhutan motorbike tour 2026 more memorable.

Overnight at Punakha

Begin your day early in the morning in Punakha, gearing up for a scenic motorcycle ride to Gangtey, which is approximately 75 km away. 

After reaching Gangtey, your first stop is Gangtey Goemba (Monastery), which sits atop a hill overlooking the valley. This ancient monastery is one of Bhutan’s most important Nyingma Buddhist monasteries. The monastery is also home to many monks and offers a chance to witness Bhutan’s rich spiritual traditions up close.

From the monastery, take a short ride down to the Black-Necked Crane Information Center, located near the Phobjikha Wetlands. This center is dedicated to the conservation of the rare and endangered Black-Necked Crane, which migrates to Bhutan every winter from the Tibetan Plateau.

Post-lunch, take some time to explore the beauty of Phobjikha valley on your motorcycle. The valley is known for its scenic beauty and wildlife, making it a perfect place for a relaxing ride. 

On your 5th day of Bhutan motorcycle tour, ride to Bumthang is an adventure, with roads that wind their way through dense forests and offer stunning views of the valleys below. The ride will take around 3-4 hours, with brief stop in Trongsa for sightseeing and to enjoy the surrounding scenery.

 Your first stop will be the majestic Trongsa Dzong, perched high on a hilltop. The dzong is one of the largest and most impressive in Bhutan and served as the ancestral seat of the royal family.

From Trongsa Dzong, it’s a short ride or walk to the Ta Dzong, the watchtower that once guarded the dzong but now houses a museum.

After lunch, continue your motorcycle journey towards Bumthang,

Upon reaching Bumthang, you’ll head to the iconic Jakar Dzong, also known as the “Castle of the White Bird.” This dzong, perched above the town, is one of the most beautiful in Bhutan and holds immense historical and spiritual significance. It is the administrative and religious center of the Bumthang Valley. 

In the evening, head towards Bumthang Brewery, a local microbrewery known for producing a range of craft beers using traditional Bhutanese methods. Relax and unwind with a refreshing drink at the brewery, where you can enjoy chatting with the friendly staff and learn about the brewing process in this remote region of Bhutan. 

Overnight in Bumthang

Begin your day with a scenic ride from Bumthang town to Tang Valley, located about 37 km away. The journey takes you through beautiful mountain roads, with panoramic views of the valleys and surrounding landscapes. 

On the way to Tang Valley, make a stop at Mebar Tsho, also known as the Burning Lake. This sacred site is famous for its connection to Guru Rinpoche, who is said to have performed miracles here.

Upon reaching Tang valley, you’ll enter a magical destination that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, rich culture and warm hospitality. The valley is serene and untouched, providing a peaceful escape where adventure, spiritual connection and relaxation converge. 

Explore the historical and cultural richness of Tang valley by visiting the Ogen Choling Palace Museum. This former palace has been converted into a museum dedicated to preserving the legacy of the region’s noble families and offering a space for religious studies and solitude. 

After your time in Tang Valley, hop back on your motorcycle for a scenic ride back to Bumthang.

A visit to the Bumthang Swiss Cheese Factory offers a unique taste of Bhutan’s growing dairy industry. This factory produces a variety of Swiss-style cheeses using traditional methods. Take a tour of the facility to see the cheese-making process and sample a selection of their rich, flavorful cheeses. Pair your tasting with a drink from the local brewery, where you can enjoy a refreshing Bhutanese brew, creating a perfect blend of local flavors.

Overnight in Bumthang

Begin your day early in Bumthang and get ready to ride back to Thimphu. As you leave Bumthang, take your time to photograph the stunning valley views. Stop along the way to capture the vast stretches of pine forests, terraced fields and distant mountains.

As you approach Yutong La Pass, one of the highest points on your journey, pull over to capture the panoramic views of the mountains and valleys below. 

As you descend back towards Trongsa, the ride becomes smoother, with the landscape transitioning from mountain passes to forests and river valleys. 

As the last light of the day fades, arrive back in Thimphu, completing your motorcycle journey. You’ll have plenty of memories from the day, with countless photos capturing the magic of Bhutan’s landscapes and culture.

Overnight in Thimphu

For the penultimate day of the Bhutan motorbike tour 2026, begin your day early with a thrilling motorcycle ride from Thimphu to Paro, about 50 km. 

Upon arrival in Paro, head straight to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks. This breathtaking monastery is perched on a cliff 900 meters above the valley floor, offering awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains. Begin the hike up, which takes about 2–3 hours depending on your pace.

After the exhilarating hike, drive to Kichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered temples, dating back to the 7th century.

Next, head to Drukgyal Dzong, a ruined fortress that once guarded the Paro Valley against invasions from Tibet. From here, you can enjoy stunning views of Mount Jomolhari in the distance.

End your day with a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath, a perfect way to unwind after a day of hiking and exploration. The hot stones are placed in a wooden tub filled with water, infusing it with warmth and healing properties. This ancient practice is said to relieve stress, muscle tension, and improve circulation. Relax as you soak in the warm water under the clear evening sky, taking in the natural beauty of Paro.
