You will be received by our representative from Bhutan Mystical Tour at the airport and drive Thimphu city.
On the way to Thimphu, stop to see Tamchog Monastery built by Thangthong Gyalpo, the Iron Bridge Builder in the 1500.A.D. He built 8 bridges in Bhutan.
On reaching Thimphu, drive uphill to Buddha Dordenma Statue also known as Kuensel Phodrang where sits a massive sized statue of Buddha. It is made of bronze and measures 169 ft. in height. You can get a spectacular view of Thimphu valley from this point.
Next, visit to National Memorial Chorten, a monument dedicated to the Third King of Bhutan, His Majesty King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Later, head to Tashichho Dzong (Fortress), which houses the throne room of the king and the offices of the government.
Overnight in Thimphu
Today the day begins with visit to the National Zoo which where the Takins, Bhutan’s national animal is preserved.
While returning, you may visit to Dupthop Lhakhang which is known to be one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.
Visit the National Library to see a vast collection of ancient texts and scriptures. The library is a treasure trove for those interested in Bhutanese history and culture.

Overnight in Thimphu
Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass (3116m). Stop at Dochula pass to view the magnificent range of the Higher Himalayas.
Visit the Royal Botanical Garden, the Royal Botanical Park, also known as the Rhododendron Garden at Lamperi is a half hour drive towards Punakha.
On reaching Punakha, visit Chimi Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley also known as “The Divine Madman”, in the year 1499. He subdued the demons of Dochula pass who used terrorize all and sundry with his “Magical Thunder bolt” and built the temple on top of a hillock. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”.
Visit Punakha Dzong (Highlights of 9 days Bhutan tour 2026) built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is situated at the confluence of the Pho Chu (Male River) and the Mo Chu (Female River). Enroute, visit Trongsa Dzong (fortress), the most impressive Dzong in Bhutan, built in its present form in 1644 by Chogyal Minjur Tempa. It is the ancestral home of the present Royal Family and the first two hereditary kings ruled Bhutan from this Dzong.
Just a minute from the fortress, visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watch tower which currently serves as a museum. Drive further to Bumthang.
Overnight in Bumthang
Today the day begins with a visit to the Jakar Dzong (fortress), which literally means “The Castle of White Bird”. The current structure was built in 1667.
Few kilometers away from the fortress, visit Jambay Lhakhang, built by King Srongsen Gampo of Tibet in the year 659 A.D on the same day as Kichu Lhakhang in Paro. In October, one of the most spectacular festivals, “Jambay Lhakhang Drup” is staged here which celebrates local legends with vibrant mask dances.
Visit Kurjey Lhakhang (monastery), the sacred site features a cave where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated. The monastery complex is beautiful and tranquil.
On the other side on the monastery, visit Tamshing Lhakhang “Temple of the good message” established in 1501 by Pema Lingpa.
Bumthang is home to various small-scale industries where the local products such as cheese and beverages are produced. One can visit the processing unit and try the product for themselves.
Later, visit Membar Tsho, which literally means, “The Burning Lake”. It was here that the Terton Pema Lingpa discovered the treasures hidden by Guru Rimpoche in the 14th century.
Overnight in Bumthang
Drive to Gangtay. On reaching visit Gangtey Gompa founded in 1613. It is a Nyingma monastery and is affiliated to other Nyingma monasteries including Tamshing in Bumthang.
Explore the beautiful Phobjikha valley, where you will be able to see the rare, Black-Necked Crane, especially during wintertime. For more information on this magnificent bird, you can also visit the Crane Information center, under the supervision of the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature.
