Day 01. Paro: Sightseeing

Arrival in Paro, Bhutan – Chorten Kora Festival 2026

  • Touch down in Paro! Representative from Bhutan Mystical Tours will receive you at the airport. Our guide will brief you on Bhutanese cultural where you will learn Bhutanese custom and phrases to help you dictate your way across the country. 

  • Visit Rimpung Dzong, the fortress also known as “Heap of Jewel” built in the year of 1646 as the Centre of administrative and religious authority in this valley.

  • Next, visit Ta Dzong built in 1656 and renovated in 1968, an ancient watchtower, which now has been converted as the National Museum. 

  • Later, a visit to the Drukgyel Dzong which was built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1644 to commemorate the victory over the Tibetan invaders. In the evening, free to stroll in the town for leisure and photography.

Day 02. Paro – Bumthang: By Flight & Sightseeing

  • Drive to the airport and catch your flight to Bumthang, the spiritual heart of Bhutan.

  • Begin with a visit to Jakar Dzong, the “Castle of the White Bird,” known for its serene courtyards and stunning valley views.

  • Continue to Jambay Lhakhang, a 7th-century temple built by Tibetan king Songtsen Gampo. Explore Kurjey Lhakhang, home to Guru Rinpoche’s body imprint, and Tamshing Lhakhang, famed for its relics and ancient wall paintings.

  • End the day with a visit to the Bumthang Brewery to sample local craft beers and learn about the brewing process

Day 03. Bumthang: Excursion to Ogen Choling Palace & Sightseeing

  • Begin the day by visit to Membar Tsho, which literally means, “The Burning Lake”. It was here that the Terton Pema Lingpa discovered the treasures hidden by Guru Rimpoche in the 14th century.

  • Drive to Tang valley and visit Ogen Choling Palace Museum. A palace converted into a museum to preserve its legacy and provide a place for religious studies, research and solitude. The fascinating and well-captioned exhibits offer real insights into the lifestyle of a Bhutanese noble family. Drive back to Chamkhar town.

  • Overnight at Bumthang

Day 04. Bumthang – Mongar: Sightseeing

  • Embark on a scenic drive to Mongar, known for its vibrant landscapes.

  • En route a visit to Jarung Khashor Chorten and Yagang Lhakhang. In the evening, you are free to stroll in the town and interact with locals.

Day 05. Mongar – Trashigang: Sightseeing

  • In the morning, visit Mongar Dzong built in the year 1930 and drive to Trashigang, the largest district in eastern Bhutan.

  • On reaching, visit the impressive Trashigang Dzong built in 1659 to defend against the Tibetan invasion. In the evening, free to stroll in the town and you may come across “Brokpas”, the nomadic herdsmen of northeastern Himalayas with a unique dress.

Day 06. Trashigang: Witness Chorten Kora Tshechu Festival

  • Today is the Chorten Kora Festival 2026 in Chorten Kora Lhakhang. Witness the traditional Bhutanese dances, including the mask dances that narrate stories from Bhutan’s rich history and mythology.   • Later in the evening, engage with local villagers, learn about their traditions, and perhaps try your hand at Archery, Bhutan’s national sport, which often features during such events.

Day 07. Trashigang – Trashi Yangtse: Sightseeing

  • Take a short journey to Trashi Yangtse, known for its crafts. Visit the Trashi Yangtse Dzong, Chorten Kora and Gom kora.

  • Later a visit to Buddhist Institute of Performing Arts and observe the intricate craftsmanship of Dzongkha textiles and wood carvings.

  • Return to Trashigang.

  • Overnight in Trashigang

Day 08. Trashigang – Mongar

Return Drive to Mongar

  • Drive back to Mongar. We occasionally stop on the way to take pictures as this route provides a memorable experience that captures the essence of eastern Bhutan. Stroll in the town.

Day 09. Mongar – Bumthang

Mongar to Bumthang Valley Tour

  • Drive back to Bumthang. Stop occasionally on the route for photography as you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of lush valleys, terraced fields, and majestic hills. Packed lunch will be served on the way itself to experience the celebration of both food and nature.

  • On reaching Bumthang stroll in the town. 

  • Overnight in Bumthang

Day 10. Bumthang – Trongsa – Gangtay: Sightseeing

  • Drive to Gangtay in the morning. En route, visit Trongsa Dzong (fortress), the most impressive Dzong in Bhutan. It is the ancestral home of the present Royal Family and the first two hereditary kings ruled Bhutan from this Dzong.

  • Just a minute from the fortress, visit Ta Dzong, an ancient watch tower which currently serves as a museum.

  • Further, approach the Pele La Pass, standing at an elevation of 3,390 meters.  The pass serves as a natural boundary between the western and central regions of Bhutan.

  • On reaching, visit Gangtey Gompa founded in 1613. It is a Nyingma monastery and is affiliated to other Nyingma monasteries including Tamshing in Bumthang.

  • Explore the beautiful Phobjikha valley, where you will be able to see the rare, Black-Necked Crane, especially during wintertime.

  • For more information on this magnificent bird, you can also visit the Crane Information Center, under the supervision of the Royal Society for the Protection of Nature.

  • The Farmhouse stay in Phobjikha is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy the serene beauty of the valley. 

  • Overnight in Gangtay

Day 11. Gangtay – Punakha: Sightseeing

  • As you leave Gangtay, the road ascends through the picturesque valleys of the Wangdue Phodrang district. 

  • On reaching Punakha, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley also known as “The Divine Madman”, in the year 1499. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”. 

  • Visit Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and is situated at the confluence of the Pho Chu (Male River) and the Mo Chu (Female River). For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. War materials captured during the various battles with Tibetans are preserved here. Punakha served as a capital of Bhutan till the year of 1955.

  • Overnight in Punakha

Day 12. Punakha – Thimphu: Sightseeing

  • In the morning drive to the capital city, Thimphu.

  • On reaching, visit Buddha Dordenma, a colossal statue that overlooks the city.

  • Next visit to the National Memorial Chorten, a stupa built in honor of the third king of Bhutan. 

  • Later, head to Tashichho Dzong (Fortress), which houses the throne room of the king and the offices of the government. In the evening, wander through the Thimphu town for local handicrafts and delicacies.

  • Today, dive deeper into Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital.

  • Start with a visit to the National Zoo, home to the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal. On the way back, explore Dupthop Lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan.

     

  • Next, visit the National Library, showcasing ancient texts and scriptures—a treasure trove for those interested in Bhutanese history and culture.

  • Continue to the National Institute for Zorig Choesum (13 traditional arts), where painting, sculpture, and thangka artistry preserve Bhutanese heritage.

     

  • A short walk brings you to the Folk Heritage Museum, highlighting rural crafts and traditions.
